Episode 04: Solidarity

The year 1980 marked a pivotal turning point in the Cold War with the emergence of the Polish Solidarity Movement.

During the months of the workers' rebellion, the Soviet empire found itself on the defensive, both politically and morally, as the movement gained momentum.

The dissidents in communist countries, along with the Solidarity Movement, sparked a global alliance in support of human rights for those living in captive nations.

In those dizzying months, a worldwide movement was born, united in its efforts to stand up for the oppressed and to fight for a more just and equitable world.

“When you've robbed a man of everything, he's no longer in your power — he's free again.” - Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Soviet writer
